The Evanston and Bridger Valley MentorABILITY initiative is an innovative program for young adults with disAbilities. All three school districts in Uinta County are on board with the MentorABILITY program. This program is designed to assist young people in the transition from school to work. We engage the active participation of local employers in providing career exploration, work experiences and mentoring opportunities. Local employers are excited and eager to help grow the talent that their businesses need to succeed in today's competitive world. MentorABILITY provides a broad range of activities and experiences which give youth participants the guidance, insight, confidence and experience that will benefit them toward landing a job and to work toward rewarding careers.
Each student's employability is maximized through exercises and workshops, designed to be interesting and useful, while encouraging them to stay in school to receive the best education prior to joining the work force.
Key program components include, but not limited to: Individual Planning, Employer Mentoring, World of Work Workshops, Business Site Visits, Career Exploration, Work Experience, Job Development Assistance; all with employer support and assistance.
MentorABILITY works closely with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation when appropriate.
Uinta County School District #4 (Mountain View) and Uinta County School District #6 (Lyman) work with Wanda Rogers, MentorABILITY Coordinator for the Bridger Valley area. Debbie Terech assists students with disAbilities from Uinta County School District #1 (Evanston). It has been a pleasure working with these three school districts over the last 10 years. Hundreds of students have proven that a disAbility does not define who they are. They may have a disAbility; yet they continue to learn that focusing on your own abilities and realizing that there is a place for them in the world of work.
